Groom's can choose as many groomsmen as they like, however, large weddings tend to have more groomsmen than smaller affairs, so you may find the size of the wedding lends itself to a certain number. Groomsmen usually walk down the aisle with the bridesmaids so it may be a good idea to keep an even number.

At the top of the pack is the best man who should be your closest male friend, but also someone reliable. If your closest friend isn't too dependable then it is really down to your judgement as whether to choose them or not
